PROSPECTUS.

Tuis Company is formed upon the principle of Limited Liability, for the Construction of Gas Works, and for supplying Gas in the populous City of Victoria or Hong Kong, and in other Cities in China, as may be hereafter determined upon.

It is the seat of Hong Kong is the only English Colony, and the principal seaport, in China. the Government, and the British Military and Naval Depôts, and from its strategetical position over the China seas, similar to that of Gibraltar over the Mediterranean, it confers a thorough security upon both persons and property.

The population of the City is already estimated at over 100,000, and the residences of His Excellency the Governor, and of the Merchants, and the Ilospitals, Barracks, and other public buildings, are upon an extent and a scale of magnificence unknown in this country.
